Outfit of the Week No. 55
There is a dimension of caring for your wardrobe (and, let’s call it caring for yourself, too) that I’ve been always a little ignorant about.I am talking perfectly fitting undergarments, that don’t show when wearing white dresses, tight garments or openly cut blouses and blazers – like the one from this oh-so-beautiul Rhumaa Suit.
As we especially missed the topic ›invisible‹ underwear in the ranges of eco-intimates we’ve been trying so far, I was actually quite excited to hear that the Copenhagen based label Organic Basics has dedicated a whole line to exactly this topic.
Now, after a quiet but busy Sunday of outfit planning for the upcoming weeks and events: Why I highly recommend trying the line? First and most important I appreciate the label’s take on sustainability, talking fabrics like GOTS certified cotton, Tencel and recycled Nylon, long-lasting garments and fair and socially sustainable production while keeping the prices as low as possible (e.g. through online retail only). Regarding the INVISIBLE LINE not only the range of ›skin‹ tones but also the variety of designs and shapes are perfectly combinable with the needs of your very own body. I am wearing the 80’s briefs and am bigger fan of the body than the top (regarding the fact that I like to have my belly free from seam lines.) But: you will probably find you own pieces of preference?
P.S.: Why underwear should be the number first gadget when it comes to replace a conventional wardrobe with eco conscious clothing? The answer is easy: the chemicals often used in the process of fibre making and textile dyeing are something one does not really want having immediate skin contact with.
